New Jersey's Little League Law (2A:62A-6 et. seq.)

Provides partial civil immunity protection to volunteer athletic coaches, managers, or officials for non profit sports teams who have attended a "safety orientation and training skills program".

Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches' Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs (N.J.A.C. 5:52)

Drafted by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and implemented on January 2, 1990.

New Jersey's Code of Conduct Law (5:17-1 et. seq.)

Enacted on August 25, 2002, this legislation empowers school boards and youth sport organizations to establish athletic codes of conduct for players, coaches, officials and parents.

New Jersey's Violent Fans Law (2C:12-1 et. seq.)

Enacted on August 3, 2002, this amendment to the existing "Assault Law" targets persons who commit assault in the presence of a child under 16 years of age at a school or community sponsored youth sports event. The maximum penalty is a $10,000 fine and up to 18 months in prison (see subsection f).

Board of Directors Immunity Law

Volunteers of certain organizations exempt from liability, damages. 

Protective Eyewear Law (5:18-1 et. seq.)

Children who wear corrective eyeglasses while participating in school and community sports are required to wear protective eyewear.
